Brandon Beachy was a promising pitcher with superstar potential for the Braves just three seasons ago.
Now Beachy returns to face his former team coming off not one but two Tommy John surgeries. Beachy pitched for the first time in nearly two years nine days ago facing the Brewers at Dodger Stadium.
The results were not pretty.
The Dodgers lost 7-1. Beachy was hammered for three runs on five hits and three walks in just four innings.
Beachy was obviously rusty. But it's a huge leap of faith - especially now in just his second start - to believe Beachy is anywhere near what he once was in Atlanta.
The Braves have another highly promising talented pitcher in Matt Wisler. This will be his sixth big league start. He's 3-1 with a 3.10 ERA. Wisler has been very good at Turner Field going 2-0 with an 0.68 ERA in home outings versus the Mets and Nationals.
The Dodgers are far less intimidating when Clayton Kershaw and Zach Greinke aren't on the mound. (Editor's note: Long-time pro Stephen Nover has been blazing the past two weeks on his MLB plays going 10-3 on his last 13 regular-season premium baseball plays. Stephen has his Bookie Breaker going today in addition to this free selection.)
